NBHS Robotics Program goals
The high school’s robot team is devoted to the pursuit of learning and skill building in a number of areas, ranging from engineering to teamwork to community outreach.
Now celebrating its fifth year, the team has been fortunate enough to win several awards including Highest Rookie Seed, Xerox Creativity Award, and has been a finalist at the regional competition two years running. In 2015 the team qualified for the national championship event in St. Louis.
Invest In Our Future
This is an expensive competition, and we can’t do it without community support. The 2014-2015 season cost almost $15,000 which just about depleted our bank account. We're looking to raise another $15,000 this year in the hopes that we will again be able to attend the Championship. The expenses of the team includes the $5,000 entry fee for the first competition, plus an additional $4,000 for each one and (if we go again) $5000 for the Championship. This does not include the actual cost of building the robot nor travel.
“We need all the help we can get,” says Mike Bowman, coach and teacher. “The kids will be out raising money, but we’re depending on local businesses to contribute the majority share. We’ll be contacting the area’s larger businesses, we anticipate strong support.”
"This team does not exist without the continued support of our sponsors. You guys are the reason we can come back everyday and do something that we really enjoy and want to devote the rest of our lives to."
